Where is the best place to hunker down and study on any given Tuesday night in Fort Collins? Most upperclassman – who have been studying here for awhile – know that the library is downright bland and boring. How can one trek back to campus after a long day of classes and get a sufficient amount of work done? One cannot.
So then where. Well the logical path of thought would eventually lead to a quaint and quirky coffee shop in close proximity to one’s location. Simply because coffee shops are quaint and quirky and the vibe is nice. It makes you want to wrap yourself in a tapestry and listen to some indie/folk music and do nothing but contemplate learning a new instrument. Or perhaps that is just me. I am particularly thinking of the Alley Cat…aka my current location.
The thing, though, about quaint and quirky coffee shops is that, well, EVERYONE LOVES THEM! It is near impossible to find any open tables from the hours of 4pm-11pm on any weekday you like. And forget weekends! If you do happen to find yourself a place to sit, you get glared at from other bystanders desiring to sit at your table. So what if I am at a table for four, I was here first!
Now I’m not trying to bag on coffee shops WHATSOEVER. I love them. Their coffee is fair trade (though overpriced) and endless, there is free wifi (which my apartment currently lacks), a substantial amount of baked goodies, and usually some great music. What more could one want? Ahem…more tables!
Yet nothing can deter me from adventuring to a coffee shop to get some studying done, or blog writing accomplished. At the beginning of this year I made a pact with my best friend to go to all of the coffee shops in Fort Collins. So far so good on the pact, so far not so good on my wallet.
This is my blog about coffee shops.
