“Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach”

Everyone should watch this video! We watched this in my Education class and this guy is so inspiring. FINALLY people sticking up and making valid arguments. When I first saw this I was almost in tears from laughing. He is exactly the sort of passion that I want to show people that I have.

Tell us, what do you make? If you really thought we were in it for the money, why on earth would we chose teaching? My absolute favorite part of the video is so what do I do? I make a god damn difference, what about you? This is a shorter blog, but I agree with everything he has to say. He makes kids criticize, analyze, and then ask why. He makes kids write definitely beautiful fifteen times until they will never misspell those words again. This video is what all teachers should be screaming, and if you’re not, you’re in the wrong major.

Let me know what your guys thoughts are. I know you have SOMETHING to say about this!

    • I LOVE this video and definitely agree, everyone who wants to be a teacher should watch this and evaluate whether you are really in this program for the impact you want to have on young people, or for the “respect” you hope to gain or, heaven forbid, the money. I’m glad someone finally blogged about this!

i love this video too. every time i feel like my energy for this is dwindling, some random quote from this pops into my head. i love the part where he talks about calling up the kids parents and saying “your son stood up to the class bully today, and it was one of the biggest acts of courage i have ever seen.” we get to be with these kids for such a large part of their day, and we really get to experience such cool moments in them becoming who they are, more than just teaching them the curricula. this video never fails to make my day.
